Quantitative and Qualitative Analysis

Technical and informed analysis sits at the heart of what we do.  From small and complex to large or very large datasets including semi-identical responses to consultation, we use always the same approach: a coding framework bespoke to each project to ensure consistency, accuracy and the required level of detailed analysis.

We abide by the following principles every time we analyse data:

Impartiality We don't take positions on the issues
Integrity We don't work on issues where we feel we cannot be impartial
Transparency We believe that individuals who participate in a consultation process have a right to see what other participants think
Auditability We keep meticulous records of participation
Feedback

People who have taken the time and trouble to engage in a project should receive feedback on how their input has contributed to decision and actions – and if not, why not

Public consultation throws up a wealth of data which requires robust analysis to inform decision making.  We are used to delivering high-quality reports to tight timescales, and have proven experience in creating consultation reports in which respondents can see their opinions reflected, and upon which sound policy decisions can be made.

  • Our qualitative analysis is based on developing and using a natural language coding framework – codes are applied to a single response in as many layers as is required to cover all the issues.
  • Responses are analysed by question, with any non-question responses (such as emails and letters) assigned their own section.
  • Responses to closed questions are extracted and presented in easy to understand charts.
