Public and Stakeholder Engagement

When we talk about engagement at Traverse we’re ultimately talking about decision making. All our engagement work has one objective: people should be able to influence the decisions that affect them.

Our work is design led and aims to empower everyone who takes part, whether that’s service users or service designers, citizens or policy makers. And we don’t just deliver best in class engagement, we help organisations figure out how to listen and act on what they hear.

Our approach to engagement doesn’t rely on a few set piece methods. We have a skilled team of engagement designers who start by understanding the landscape around a decision and create a tailored process and materials that enable the participants to get to the heart of the issues.

We have engagement specialists from a wide range of backgrounds, and the areas we work in are equally varied. We

  • Collaborate with patients and public to talk about change in the NHS and wider healthcare system
  • Engage with citizens to co-create new solutions in local government (Citizens Assemblies)
  • Work with customers to help utilities providers become more responsive and deliver business plans that meet their needs and expectations
  • Bring together members of the public and scientists to explore the implications of emerging technologies for policy and regulation

Our team, like your participants, are a mix of digital natives and adopters – most of our work includes both online and face to face elements, reflecting the ways in which people prefer to engage. We can design anything from a 150 person workshop, to an online panel that deliberates over a year, to a strategy for talking about national infrastructure.
