Utilities

Traverse has a strong track record of supporting clients in the utilities sector, including developing and running dedicated customer panels, climate change engagement for local authorities, large scale deliberative programmes for Central Government and large scale quantitative programmes (including Willingness to Pay and Acceptability Testing).

We work with DNOs, GDNs, water companies, regulators and statutory consumer advocates, providing them with valuable and informative insights that contribute to the success of their projects.

Our Head of Utilities, Olivier Boelman, would be pleased to work with you to explore your needs and how we can draw on our experience and expertise to help.

The Traverse team are experienced mixed-methods practitioners, with a strong track record of supporting clients in the utilities sector. In recent years we have successfully developed and managed customer panels for utility companies such as Cadent, Northern Powergrid and Bristol Water.

Our experience also includes climate change engagement for local authorities (Brent, Lambeth, Southwark), deliberations for BEIS on Carbon Capture Usage and Storage, and work with electricity and gas networks on climate change adaptation and net zero transition.

Working across a variety of sectors from utilities, infrastructure and climate change to health and social care, the charity sector, and central and local government means we understand the wider context of many of the pressing topics within the utilities sector, and also are well practiced at managing large and complex engagement projects with multiple stakeholders and stakeholder groups.

We specialise in working on complex and controversial topics, and are adept at distilling complex information in a way that makes it easy for the public to understand – from theft of gas to company financing and supporting broader understanding of societal issues such as net zero transition.

We ensure that decision-makers have the information that they need on the views and concerns of stakeholders, based on effective engagement and data, to take robust and informed decisions.

We collaborate with our clients in designing approaches which address their needs, drawing on our knowledge and experience of social research in the utilities sector to design and deliver high quality activities and outputs.

We recently reflected on the post-Covid 19 pandemic future.  Please see here for Utilities
